Amid Russia-Ukraine Crises : First Group of Kashmiri Students Lands In Delhi
SRINAGAR : uninterrupted, the panic is growing within the families having their embers in war-torn Ukraine. Another Indian student, this one from Punjab, has died of sudden cardiac arrest, reports appearing in the media said.
Identified as Chandan Jindal, 22, from Barnala in Punjab, he was enrolled with the Vinnytsia National Pyrogov, Memorial Medical University in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia. On Tuesday, a student from Karnataka was killed in the Moscow fire while he was in a line to get some provisions. The same day, six students flew home to Samba.
Reports reaching from Delhi suggest that 13 Kashmir students including a Kashmir family have finally landed in Delhi. They flew from Romania. They will be staying in Delhi overnight and flying home on Thursday.
On another flight, five Kashmir students have also landed in Delhi. They, however, had flown from Poland. Ukraine shares borders with Moldova and Poland and the students somehow managed to move out and reach the neighbouring countries.
Earlier on Tuesday, two girls from Udhampur – both in medical school in Ukraine, reached home safely. Aheena Rajput, and Stuti Kashyap are enrolled with the Medical College B N Karazine in Kharkiv.
The two girls shocked people by saying that they were not helped by the embassy. They alleged that since the airfare of Indian Airlines from the capital city Kyiv to Delhi was costlier than other airlines, the Indian students flew with Qatar Airways.
Stuti travelled by train from Kharkiv to the capital city Kiev city where they took Qatar Airways to Delhi. “No help was extended by the Indian Embassy except asking us to leave Ukraine and I managed everything from my pocket,” she was quoted saying by a Jammu newspaper.
Dr Shadab Habib put on Twitter that they reached Moldova “on our own” without the embassy’s support. He wrote they started from Kharkiv where shoot at site order was active “but we managed to escape by foot
